What the price gaps buy you

SAR 4,600 to 6,613: DTC1250e single vs duplex

The duplex costs SAR 2,013 more and prints the back of the card automatically. Choose it if you need terms, a barcode, an emergency contact or the second language on the back. If you only ever print the front, the single-sided DTC1250e is enough.

SAR 6,613 to 17,250: direct-to-card vs retransfer

This is the big jump. The HDP5000e prints onto film and bonds it to the card, so the image runs edge to edge, lasts longer, and prints safely over the chip and antenna of proximity, MIFARE and DESFire cards. Pay it if your cards are smart or access cards, or must last for years. For a full explanation, read DTC or retransfer: which card printer to buy.

SAR 17,250 to 19,550: HDP5000e vs HDP6600

For SAR 2,300 more, the HDP6600 doubles the resolution to 600 dpi, prints 230 cards per hour instead of 133, and adds wasteless lamination that cuts lamination material costs by up to 40%. If you are buying retransfer anyway, the HDP6600 is usually the better buy. Choose the HDP5000e if you value its longer 4-year printer warranty.

Which HID Fargo printer for which organisation?

  • Schools, clinics and small offices: DTC1250e Single Side (SAR 4,600).
  • Corporate staff cards with a printed back: DTC1250e Duplex (SAR 6,613).
  • Hospitals and universities using access cards: HDP5000e (SAR 17,250).

Encoding and bilingual cards

All four models can add magnetic stripe or contact and contactless smart card encoding, so one pass prints and programs the card for your door access or attendance system. Match the encoder to your card type (MIFARE, DESFire or HID iCLASS) before ordering. For Arabic and English names, use design software that handles Arabic right-to-left text: Gulfsafes supplies CardPresso and eMedia CS2.
