Quick answer: At Gulfsafes, an electronic lock adds only SAR 172 to 345 to the price of the same Gulfsafes safe (for example the 105 model: SAR 1,840 with keys, SAR 2,130 digital), and SAR 200 on Valberg FRS fireproof safes (FRS51: SAR 1,500 key-and-key, SAR 1,700 electronic-and-key). For most homes and offices, the electronic version is worth it: user codes, wrong-code lockout and no key to lose. Businesses handling cash should choose a dual-lock safe such as the Valberg CBS 100 KL+EL (SAR 10,235) or a time-delay deposit safe. Prices include VAT, with free delivery across Saudi Arabia.

Same safe, different lock: what the electronic version costs

Gulfsafes sells its own safes in two versions of identical size: K (key-locked) and T (digital). Valberg FRS fireproof safes come as KL+KL (two key locks) or EL+KL (electronic plus key). The price gap is the real cost of the electronic lock.

Filter all 44 safes by lock in our asset safes category using "Type of Safe": Two Keys, Digital & Key, or Digital Lock.

Key, electronic or dual: how to choose

  • One person, rarely opened: a key safe is cheapest and needs no batteries. Keep the key away from the safe.
  • Opened daily or by several people: digital. Give each person a code and delete it when they leave.
  • Cash or valuables you insure: an EN 1143-1 graded safe; ask your insurer which grade.
  • Two people must agree to open: a dual-lock safe (KL+EL or EL+KL).
  • Cash counter open late: a time-delay lock so the safe cannot be opened on demand.
  • Biometric: convenient for one user, but rarely certified for burglary-resistant safes; always keep a backup code.

Lock certification in one minute

The safe body is graded under EN 1143-1 (Valberg Granit is Grade I, Bastion Grade II, FORT M Grade III). High-security locks have their own European standard, EN 1300, with Class A to D, D strongest. Higher safe grades need higher-class locks, and the highest grades need two locks. Insurers check both.

Three things to avoid

  • Cheap solenoid locks in thin metal housings: easy to defeat and impossible to upgrade.
  • Uncertified keypads with an emergency key on a safe meant for business cash: fine for a hotel room, not for takings.
  • Thinking the keypad is the lock: on a good safe, the keypad only sends the code; the lock body sits behind armour plate, so removing the keypad does not open the door.

Saudi heat and humidity

Keep electronic safes away from direct sun and outside walls, replace batteries once a year, and wipe keypads in dusty areas. In humid Jeddah and Al Khobar, key locks and quality electronic locks last best; fingerprint sensors struggle.

Payment, delivery and warranty

  • All prices include 15% VAT, with a VAT invoice in your company name.
  • Free door-to-door delivery across Saudi Arabia on orders over SAR 1,000.
  • Pay with mada, Apple Pay, Visa or Mastercard, or in instalments with Tamara (subject to Tamara approval).
  • Keep your invoice and the safe's serial number: if you lose a code or key, we verify ownership before opening the safe.

Frequently asked questions

How much more does an electronic lock cost on a safe?

At Gulfsafes, SAR 172 to 345 more on the same Gulfsafes safe (for example, 105K SAR 1,840 vs 105T SAR 2,130), and SAR 200 more on Valberg FRS fireproof safes, including VAT.

Is an electronic safe better than a key safe?

For most users, yes: faster, separate user codes, and wrong-code lockout. A key safe is cheaper and needs no batteries, but anyone who finds the key can open it.

What does EL+KL mean on a safe?

Electronic lock plus key lock. Valberg EL+KL safes open with the electronic code and the key, so the safe stays locked if only one is compromised. KL+KL means two key locks.

What is the cheapest electronic safe at Gulfsafes?

The FIN-H10T hotel safe at SAR 345 for guest rooms. For home or office valuables, the Gulfsafes 37T at SAR 1,150 is the smallest digital safe.

Which safe lock is best for a business?

An electronic lock with user codes, or a dual-lock safe such as the Valberg CBS 100 KL+EL (SAR 10,235). For late-night cash counters, a time-delay safe such as the Valberg DSC 67 KK (SAR 11,155).

Do you sell fingerprint safes?

Biometric locks are rarely certified for burglary-resistant safes, so our range focuses on key, electronic and dual-lock models. Ask us if you need a fingerprint option.

Can I pay in instalments?

Yes. Tamara instalments are available at checkout, subject to Tamara approval, alongside mada, Apple Pay, Visa and Mastercard.

Are prices inclusive of VAT?

Yes. All prices shown include 15% VAT, and every order comes with a VAT invoice.
