Quick answer: At Gulfsafes, a certified Valberg vault door costs SAR 34,500 incl. VAT for the Grade I EVD 1 and SAR 57,500 for the Grade V AVD 5, both certified to EN 1143-1 and available with delivery and professional installation in Riyadh, Jeddah and Al Khobar. What the SAR 23,000 difference buys

The AVD 5 costs SAR 23,000 more than the EVD 1. For that you get four EN 1143-1 grades more burglary resistance (Grade V instead of Grade I), an 800 kg door against roughly 200 kg, two high-security Class B locks, and internal hinges that cannot be attacked from outside. If your insurer or the value you store calls for Grade V, the EVD 1 is not an alternative: the grade is what the insurer checks. If you are building a cash room, a home strongroom or a panic room, the EVD 1 is the right door and the saving can go into the walls.

The rest of the vault room budget

A vault door set into an ordinary wall protects only the door. Budget for these items too, all scoped and quoted after a site visit:

  • Walls, floor and ceiling to the same grade: poured reinforced concrete for new ground-floor rooms, or modular armoured panels for upper floors and existing buildings.
  • Floor check: the AVD 5 alone weighs 800 kg.
  • Installation of the door into the concrete opening and commissioning of the locks.
  • Certified penetrations for ventilation and alarm and power cables.
  • Emergency release or emergency door.
  • Interior fit-out: shelving, lighting, and climate and humidity control for documents and art in Jeddah and Al Khobar.
  • Compartments: multi-compartment safes such as the Db-12 (SAR 11,500) and Db-24 (SAR 17,250), designed for bank vaults and hotel storerooms, from our deposit safes range.
  • Detection: intrusion alarm, CCTV and access control on the approach.

EN 1143-1 in one paragraph

EN 1143-1 is the European standard for burglary-resistant safes, strongroom doors and strongrooms. A certified product is attacked in a laboratory with hand tools, power tools and cutting equipment, and graded by the resistance it shows. Higher grades resist longer, stronger attacks. Insurers and banks ask for the grade by number, so always buy a door with the certificate, not just a heavy door.

How a Gulfsafes vault project runs

  1. Site visit: we survey the room, structure, floor and delivery route.
  2. Grade and door: we confirm the grade your insurer requires and recommend the EVD 1, AVD 5 or a higher-grade project door.
  3. Quote: one quote for the door, room construction and fit-out.
  4. Delivery and installation: the door is fitted into the concrete opening and the locks are commissioned.
  5. Handover: certificates for your insurer and training for your staff.
